Let us start by saying this: if you have a song you've always dreamed of walking down the aisle to, forget all the advice out there. It doesn't matter what we — or anyone else — think. If it stirs your spirit, that's all that counts.
As wedding musicians, our ultimate goal is to calm those anxious thoughts that try to pull you out of the moment and bring you right back to it. We'll always be honest if we think a song might not have the emotional pull you're looking for. But trust us — 9.9 times out of 10, the song you've been dreaming about will be absolutely perfect.
That said, we know some people feel completely stuck when it comes to choosing their aisle song. If that's you, don't worry — this little guide is here to help.
Number 1: Maybe it always has been, maybe it always will be...
“Can’t Help Falling in Love”
There's a reason this classic is chosen time and time again — it's perfect. The lyrics? Perfect. The melody? Perfect. And we will never tire of performing it.
Don't worry if you've heard it before, or if someone in your family chose it for their wedding. If this song speaks to you and feels right, then it's your song. Own it, love it, and walk down the aisle to it..
Number 2: The unexpectedly wonderful choice...
“I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”
This song is an absolute gem and a massive favourite with the footy crowd — but performed soft and intimate at a wedding, it becomes something else entirely.
People never stop to think about how deeply romantic the lyrics actually are because they've always been singing it at the pub. But then suddenly on your wedding day those words land differently — I would walk 500 miles just to be the man who wakes up next to you.
There is something about lifting into that second chorus that takes the emotions to a whole new level right when you need them to. We have performed this for so many couples and it never once fails to deliver.
Number 3: The crowd favourite...
“Wonderland”
There is something light and airy and quietly extraordinary about this song. The words just float — we got the afternoon, we got this room for two — and suddenly you're back to those long Sundays when you could do nothing together, when everything was easy and new and you were just falling in love. It's that feeling, bottled.
Ever since we performed it at Brooke Hogan and Myles Pitt's wedding it has become one of our most requested aisle songs, and we completely understand why.
A few more that we absolutely love...
These didn't make the top three but honestly they could have on any given day:
Simply the Best — Nobody expects to hear this one performed soft and sweet and that's exactly why it works so beautifully. People hear it and think of Tina Turner's powerful stadium version, and then we play it gently and intimately and they just melt.
The Blower's Daughter — For the romantics. I can't take my eyes off you. And I won't. Forever. That's it. That's the whole song. That's the whole marriage.
Dancing Queen — Another completely unexpected aisle choice that somehow works perfectly. A few sweet melodic changes and voilà — pure magic.
The Wedding Song — For the cute indie lovers. The Angus and Julia Stone, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons crowd. For the ones who believe in picnic blanket love and wouldn't have it any other way.
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing — Epic and romantic in the most cinematic way. The kind of song that hits you right in the stomach. You know the feeling.
Kissing You — For the super romantics who watched Romeo and Juliet on repeat and felt every single second of it. This one is not for the faint hearted — in the most beautiful way.
